Resolving the all too familiar conflict between the professional and the person is the focus of Libby Gill's public speaking and consulting career. It's a story she knows well. She rose from office temp to executive positions with such major players in the highly competitive entertainment industry as Sony Corporation, Turner Broadcasting, and Universal Studios. She found, however, that her business success came at too high a cost to her personal life. Recognizing what was happening, she re-dedicated her professional activities to help professionals realize a better balance between their business and private lives. In the process, Libby confronted issues ranging from changing gender roles at home and at work, to the impact that family history - the good and the bad - has on every individual's approach to life. Libby Gill, widely recognized as an expert on women's role in modern society, can help any organization and its members deal with these challenges.
Motivational speaker, personal coach, consultant to Dr. Phil, and author of "Traveling Hopefully" and "Stay-At-Home Dads"
After fifteen years serving as Senior Vice President at Universal Studios; Vice President at Sony Pictures Entertainment and Turner Broadcasting; and a consultant for Dr. Phil and Paramount Studios, Libby Gill worked her way down the corporate ladder to pursue her dream of helping others locate the intersection between their personal passions and professional goals. Libby, a former actress and college instructor, is now a bestselling author and coach. She has appeared on the Dr. Phil Show, CNN, National Public Radio, Fox News, CBS Early Show, The Hour of Power, and in Time Magazine, The New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, O Magazine, Good Housekeeping, Self and many more.
Among her professional achievements, Libby was instrumental in creating the comprehensive media launch plan that catapulted "Dr. Phil" to the highest ratings in daytime television since "The Oprah Winfrey Show" debuted. After starting out as a temporary office assistant, in just five years Libby worked her way up to VP of publicity, advertising and promotion at Sony before moving on to Turner Broadcasting and Universal. In one of many unusual career moves, Libby then moved into a creative position and became vice president of television programming and development for Universal's Studios USA.
After deciding she needed to completely re-balance her life, Libby left the corporate world and founded Libby Gill & Company in November 2000. As she was reinventing her professional life, Libby's personal life also underwent a major transition. She chronicled her journey of overcoming the self-perceived limitations left behind by a family legacy of alcoholism, divorce and mental illness in her bestselling book Traveling Hopefully ( St. Martin 's Press, 2004).
A first-time author in her mid-forties, Libby's long-time passion for creating a better balance between work and family responsibilities had led to the publication of her first book, STAY-AT-HOME DADS: The Essential Guide to Creating the New Family, which examined parental styles and family systems in role-reversed households across the country. She received substantial attention for her book, the first on the topic, and became a frequent media expert discussing changing gender roles at work and at home.
Libby's clients have included Dr. Phil McGraw, Paramount Studios, Dallas Chamber of Commerce, Triad Hospitals, Cobius Healthcare Solutions, Beau Monde Programs of Newport Beach, MailCom Association, the National Association for Women Business Owners, McCann-Erickson, Women Entrepreneurs of Albuquerque, WomanSage, Power Within, the National Federation for the Blind and more.
