When you encounter difficulties in business and life, will you hesitate and retreat, or will you bounce back and continue upward?
Jim Davidson is a mountaineer and a renowned corporate motivational speaker. He distills his mountain climbing stories to draw parallels between the high intensity world of mountaineering and the high-risk corporate world. As a climber and high-altitude expedition leader for 29 years, Jim has climbed mountains around the globe and is an expert in resilience. His adventures have taken him to Alaska, Argentina, Bolivia, Ecuador, Mexico, Nepal and Tibet, including the sixth highest peak in the world at 26,900 feet.
With training in wilderness first aid, avalanche safety, and vertical rescue, Jim honed his resilience expertise in the field as an expedition leader, ice climbing instructor, and mountain rescuer. He has volunteered to rescue other hikers and climbers on numerous occasions, he has been commended twice by the U.S. National Park Service for leadership and personal sacrifice on mountain rescues, and even rescued himself from 80-feet deep inside a glacial crevasse.
Jim’s exhilarating tale of survival was recently broadcast on national and international TV as an episode of I Shouldn't Be Alive (Animal Planet) and is the topic of his new memoir, "The Ledge: An Adventure Story of Friendship and Survival on Mount Rainier". NPR cited The Ledge in their 2011 list of the "Summer's Biggest, Juiciest Nonfiction Adventures" and the Wall Street Journal called The Ledge “a moving portrait of friendship and loss".
Jim lives in Colorado with his two adventurous kids, and his very tolerant wife.
Audiences will be riveted by Jim’s words and photos, and inspired to take on their own challenges with renewed vigor. You won’t find a corporate motivational speaker who has overcome more than Jim has and has a more inspiring way of relating it.
